French art arrives in nation's capital

  The first batch of precious art and cultural relics from the Versailles Palace in Paris arrived in Beijing last Saturday.

  The show will open from May 1 through July 31 in the Palace Museum.

  The total value of the works, many of which belonged to the period of Louis XIV more than 300 years ago, is about US$27.4 million, the Beijing News reports.
