Can gargantuan trees be saved from pests?
(China Daily) Updated:2005-04-04 13:55

Fire engines are being used to pump pesticides on two ancient trees in danger of dying from a parasite infestation in Tianhe District of Guangzhou.

Each of the two 300-year-old trees are so big that seven adult men standing together cannot link their arms around them, the Southern Metropolis News reports.

Local residents who have grown up observing the trees asked the local government to send fire engines to battle the worms on the goliaths.
