Kite maker hopes to soar at Beijing Games
(China Daily) Updated:2005-03-24 17:08

Famous kite maker Li Jingyang plans to donate his 3,000-metre-long kite composed of 2,008 swallows to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Li calls the kite "Olympic swallow." Seven people are required to work together for the kite to be flown, the East Asia Economy and Trade News reports.

It took Li in Jilin City, Jilin Province, five years of effort to craft the kite.

The kite is made without a tail.

Li said his dream is to fly the entire 2,008 swallows at the opening ceremonies of the 2,008 Games.
