(China Daily) Updated:2005-03-24 17:07

More Chinese women set up their own businesses and succeed in them compared with women in many other countries, the Beijing Morning Post reports.

An investigation by a global observation project throughout 40 countries and regions showed the average figure was 6.9 per cent for women in entrepreneurial endeavours globally while the number in China is 11.16 per cent, 4.26 percentage points higher than the average.

The statistics also revealed that among 1.5 million enterprises headed by Chinese women, only 1.5 per cent suffered losses while 98 per cent said they made a profit.
