Chen Zhiming, stands on his heads with cushions under his head for 15 minutes every day.

　　An elderly man in Yuexiu District was planning to bid for a Guinness World Record for standing on his head, the Guangzhou Daily reported.

　　Chen Zhiming, 77, practiced physical exercise, running 10,000 meters every morning, swimming for 20 minutes every day even in winter and standing on his head for 15 minutes every day, the report said.

　　Chen said he was able to stand on his head for an hour.

　　On Wednesday, Chen demonstrated his skill for 42 minutes, standing on his head with cushions under his head.

　　He said he had been inspired by a TV program showing a 60-year-old man standing on his head to help cure cerebral blood vessel and vertebra ailments. He had been suffering from many diseases and decided to try standing upside down after consulting a doctor. In the beginning, he could last only two to three minutes, leaning against a wall or supported by a family member.

　　Chen retired before he was 60 to focus on exercises to improve his health. He was thin 10 years ago but became hale and hearty after determined efforts to build-up his body.

　　He had practiced shadowboxing, qigong, jogging, instrument-aided exercises and carried loads on his head. He had won 60 swimming awards in nine years.
