The world's leading business journal named Larry Rong Zhijian, chairman of the Hong Kong-based conglomerate CITIC Pacific, as China's richest man, with assets of USD 1.5 billion.
Rong Zhijian is followed by Wong Kwong Yu, owner of the leading electrical appliances retailer, Guomei, and by Chen Tianqiao, chairman of Shanda Networking, which specializes in online game development.
The list includes 35 people from Guangdong, 22 people from Shanghai, and another 22 from Beijing.
The first 100 people have USD 29 billion in combined assets, 42 percent more than last year's figure.
Forbes says this year's list shows that wealth, once concentrated in southern China and Hong Kong, is now spreading widely in China.
