Mother seeking dog to child sit
(China Daily) Updated:2004-12-08 11:13

A mother placed an advertisement on the Internet for a dog to babysit her autistic child, reports the Shanghai-based Youth Daily.

The woman surnamed Chen said her four-year-old was fond of dogs but had severe problems communicating with people.

In the ad, Chen from Shanghai, said the ideal dog would be " big and with a mild temperament, registered and vaccinated" and available two or three times a week to visit her child.

A psychiatrist at Shanghai's No 10 Renmin Hospital, Zhu Rongshen said a dog could be a window for the child to communicate with the outside world, although the mother should also seek professional help.
